System?
1. The VIDAS and mini VIDAS are called "multiparametric"
instruments. What does the term "multiparametric" mean?
The term "multiparametric" is used to describe the
functionality of the VIDAS and mini VIDAS instruments. The user
is able to run compatible tests with the same protocols in the
same section. For example: Mumps IgG and Varicella Zoster IgG
may be run in the same section at the same time. Tests with different
protocols may also be run at the same time, but in different sections
in the instrument.
2. How many tests may be performed per shift
for both the VIDAS and the mini VIDAS instruments?
The VIDAS 30 system is capable of processing up to 300 tests
per eight-hour shift. The mini VIDAS system is capable of processing
up to 80 tests per eight-hour shift.
3. How often do the instruments require recalibration?
Both the VIDAS and mini VIDAS instruments store the calibration
for a period of 14 days, which provides the user with optimization
of cost-per-patient result.
4. What reagents are used in the VIDAS and
mini VIDAS instruments?
There are two main reagent componentsbarcoded strips containing
all liquid reagents required for the assay and the SPRs.
5. What is a "SPR?"
A SPR is a pipette-tip shaped device that provides the solid
phase receptacle for the reaction. It is made of polystyrene or
polypropylene material. The inside surface is coated with capture
antibody or antigen at the time of manufacture. The SPR is capable
of capturing soluble proteins, viruses, bacteria and whole cells
with good sensitivity.
6. Can the VIDAS and mini VIDAS be interfaced
to a Laboratory Information System?
The VIDAS 30 instrument is capable of Uploading and Downloading
information to a LIS. The mini VIDAS is currently capable of Uploading
information to a LIS.
