The Slidex Staph-Kit is a rapid latex and red blood cell combination
test for the identification of Staphylococcus aureus. Its ease
of use and high sensitivity are unmatched for MRSA.
Clinical Interest
Staphylococcus aureus is the second most commonly isolated bacteria
from human infections.
Because of their high sensitivity and specificity, latex and
red blood cell agglutination are now widely recognized methods
for the rapid differentiation of S. aureus from other staphylococcal
strains.
Features
Slidex Staph-Kit provides quick, reliable and easy-to-use results.
- Simplelatex/red blood cell agglutination on a slide
- Fastrapid detection of clumping factor, Protein A and
other specific antigens of S. aureus
- Practicalready-to-use reagents. Can be used for colonies
from selective (Mannitol Salt Agar) and non-selective media
- Reliablehigh sensitivity (95%) with MRSA (methicillin-resistant
S. aureus) and 100% with MSSA (methicillin-sensitive S. aureus)
Procedure

- Step One: Dispense one drop of anti-S. aureus reagent and
one drop of control reagent.
- Step Two: Pick one or two suspect colonies. Emulsify gently
in reagent. Rock the slide slowly.
- Step Three: Agglutination (latex and red blood cells combined)
within 30 seconds indicates the presence of S. aureus.
