The Slidex Strepto-Kit is a rapid test that will indicate a grouping of ß-hemolytic streptococci in 10 minutes.

Clinical Interest
ß-hemolytic streptococci are the cause of infections both in children and in adults, which can result in sub-acute and/or acute complications such as otitis, sinusitis, meningitis, septicemia, endocarditis, glomerulonephritis and others.

Group A and B streptococci are generally incriminated, but the importance of other groups recognized more and more frequently for their pathogenicity should not be neglected.

Determination of the serogroup is a fundamental step in diagnosis, both for epidemiological monitoring and medically for effective treatment.

Procedure

• Step One: Emulsify four to five suspect colonies in extraction enzyme. Incubate for 10 to 15 minutes at 37 °C.
  
• Step Two: Dispense one drop of each sensitized latex reagent.
  
• Step Three: Add one drop of extract. Mix. Rock slide gently.
  
• Step Four: Agglutination within two minutes indicates presence of antigen.
