Job Function: Provide laboratory support for the bioMerieux, Inc. Organism Resistance Initiative Surveillance project. Responsible for the collection, identification, antibiotic susceptibility testing and molecular testing of bacterial isolates submitted to bioMerieux, Inc. from clinical laboratories participating in the BORIS surveillance network. Also responsible for storage and maintenance of cultures, collaboration with other bioMerieux, Inc. departments, evaluation and reporting of surveillance data to internal and external groups.
Job Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of clinical microbiology, particularly antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Previous experience in molecular techniques including PCR and DNA sequencing. Ability to work with a min. of supervision. Ability to work with pathogenic organisms. Knowledge of chemistry, math, basic statistics. Knowledge of experimental design. Knowledge of design control. Knowledge of company’s quality system. Knowledge of laboratory safety. Good laboratory techniques and operation of lab equipment. Good problem solving ability. Good oral and written communication skills in English. Good organizational skills. Good computer skills.
