U.S. introduction of its latest VIDAS assay, VIDAS TPSA.
VIDAS
TPSA is an Equimolar TPSA test, calibrated against the
STANFORD standard. It offers excellent reproducibility
even at low values. The VIDAS TPSA assay provides an
accurate determination of total PSA and delivers high-quality
results for precise and reliable monitoring of prostate
cancer patients.

Receives PMA Approval for HIV-1 Viral Load Assay to Aid
in Prognosis and Therapeutic Monitoring

19, 2001 bioMérieux, Inc. has received
Premarket Approval (PMA) from the United States Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) for its NucliSens®
HIV-1 QT quantitative viral load assay. Using the firm's
proprietary Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification
(NASBA) technology, the test identifies the level of
HIV-1 viral RNA in plasma and can be used to monitor
the effects of anti-retroviral therapy by measuring
changes in HIV-1 RNA levels.
