3D Microbial Detection System
The BacT/ALERT 3D is a modular system that can be customized to meet the laboratory’s needs for test volume, space constraints and data management:
- BacT/ALERT 3D Control Module manages the bottle handling functions such as loading and unloading bottles,
and regulates the temperature of the system.
- BacT/ALERT 3D Incubator Modules have 240 cells in four separate drawers (60 cells per drawer). Each drawe rcan be configured independently to test blood and body fluid cultures, mycobacteria cultures or platelet quality
control cultures. The annual maximum pull through of each 240 incubator is 17,500 blood/body fluid bottles
(on 5 day incubation cycle) or 2,000 mycobacteria bottles (on 6 week incubation cycle). Up to 6 Incubator
Modules can be connected to each Control Module.
- Incubator Modules can be stacked to save additional space. Each 3D stacking rack can accommodate two
Incubator Modules. Alternatively, the Incubator Modules can be connected to the Control Module in linear
fashion on the laboratory bench top or on BacT/ALERT 3D Benchtop Carts. Each BacT/ALERT 3D Benchtop Cart
can accommodate two Incubator Modules or one Control Module and one Incubator Module.
- BacT/ALERT 3D Combination Module combines the functions of the Control Module and the Incubator Module
into one. The Combination Module has 120 cells (2 drawers of 60 cells each) and can handle a maximum
volume of 8,750 blood/body fluid bottles per year or 1,000 mycobacteria bottles per year. Drawers can be
configured independently for blood/body fluid cultures, platelet quality control cultures or mycobacteria cultures.
One additional BacT/ALERT 3D Incubator Module can be connected to the Combination Module.
- BacT/ALERT 3D 60 Module combines the functions of the Control Module and the Incubator Module into one. The 3D 60 is a single door unit containing 60 cells. (Note: Signature Data management option is not availablewith the BacT/ALERT 3D 60)
There are three data management options with the BacT/ALERT 3D system:
- BacT/ALERT 3D Select provides basic data management functions. Five customizable data fields can be used
add patient demographics or culture information. Reports can be generated based upon data entered into
customizable fields or instrument-generated data. Reports are customizable with sorting and printing capabilities.
- BacT/ALERT 3D SelectLink offers the same capabilities as BacT/ALERT 3D Select but in addition has an interface to the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to eliminate manual data entry. This option is perfect for laboratories that rely on their LIS for most of their reporting needs.
- BacT/ALERT 3D Signature includes OBSERVA®, a comprehensive, flexible and customizable data management
system. Signature is an ideal choice for demanding environments where site-specific operating modes and
customized data manipulation and reporting are necessities. It offers user-defined data fields with options
lists, configurable icons to launch functions or print reports, numerous pre-programmed reports which are also
customizable, and the ability to query the database by virtually any parameter.The BacT/ALERT 3D Signature
system includes an interface from BacT/ALERT 3D to the LIS.
