VITEK^® 2 Microbial Identification and Susceptibility Testing Systems

The VITEK 2 microbial ID/AST system is a fully automated, continuous-access microbiology testing system. It integrates into one instrument all of the sample preparation, incubation and optical measurement functions used in the rapid identification and susceptibility testing microorganisms.

The VITEK 2 system comes equipped with Advanced Expert System™ software, an automated ID/susceptibility result validation tool with a focus on bacterial resistance
detection. DataTrac software provides extensive reporting capabilities for epidemiology analysis.

Included with the full VITEK 2 and/or VITEK 2 XL Systems:

Test Module
Provides fully automated sample preparation that includes dilutions, card filling, card sealing, loading, incubating, reading, unloading and validating.

Smart Carrier Station (one with VITEK 2, two with VITEK 2 XL)
Provides positive chain of custody between test card and patient sample number. This small module can be placed anywhere in the lab to optimize work flow.

Advanced Expert System Software
Provides on-line result review to ensure quality test results and alerts operator of possible bacterial mechanisms of resistance.

BCI
Bi-directional computer interface to laboratory information system (LIS) to eliminate manual data entry.

DensiChek 2 (one with VITEK 2, two with VITEK 2 XL)
Standardizes bacterial suspensions for test kit inoculation.

CC5 or greater computer
Includes CPU, CRT, keyboard, mouse, and printer. Computer comes loaded with bioLiaison® and DataTrac software, providing system data management and epidemiology reporting.

VITEK 2 Compact Microbial Identification and Susceptibility Testing Systems

The VITEK 2 Compact ID/AST system is a highly automated, continuous-access microbiology testing system. It provides improved laboratory workflow efficiency and the reporting accuracy of the VITEK 2. The same 64-well identification and susceptibility test cards are used in both instruments. This brings the exclusive features of VITEK 2 to every size laboratory.

The VITEK 2 Compact also features the Advanced Expert System software, an automated result validation tool that focuses on bacterial resistance detection. *OBSERVA^® software provides data management capabilities to prepare epidemiologic analysis and reports.

Included with the full VITEK 2 Compact Systems:
