Code Sepsis: Clinical Microbiology Responds to Sepsis
This session frames the critical nature of sepsis for microbiologists, via case studies, literature review, and evidence-based laboratory data to advance their understanding of tests used in “sepsis bundles” and microbiology’s role as a primary provider of sepsis-related laboratory results to support the Surviving Sepsis Campaigns. This session will provide evidence based review of rapid laboratory methods that impact and improve the diagnosis of sepsis. The focus of the session will be to raise awareness and improve understanding of current blood culture standards and utility of various new methods that can be applied to detection of hematopathogens and immune markers of sepsis.
