bioMérieux Receives Innovation Award from French-American Chamber of Commerce

25 October, 2019

Stefan Willemsen, Executive Vice President for the Americas Region, accepted the Innovation Award on behalf of bioMérieux.

Durham, North Carolina — October 25, 2019 — bioMérieux received the award for Innovation at the French-American Business Gala, which took place on October 11, 2019. Over 200 attendees from North and South Carolina gathered to recognize 23 French companies who have made outstanding contributions to trade and investment between the United States and France.

bioMérieux received the Innovation award for their efforts to combat the threats of antimicrobial resistance, as well as in recognition of their dedication to detect microorganisms in agri-food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products. The Chamber also noted bioMérieux’s significant growth and contribution of more than €327 million in research and development projects in 2018.

Stefan Willemsen, Executive Vice President for the Americas Region, accepted the award on behalf of bioMérieux and commented on the company's strategy for innovating, saying, "The millennials are the workforce of the future, so we’re thinking about this a lot. What is it that makes them stick to a company? And that is what every company is competing for these days: the workers of the future, the intelligence, the commitment. The number one factor, I think, is purpose. You want to know that you work for a company that is reflecting something more than just profits. We as a company stand for public health, we stand for helping to save lives, and we’re promoting that, and we’re serious about it because healthcare is one of the areas where a lot of improvement can be done for the people and for patients."
