Tuberculosis

TUBERCULOSIS: 1/3 OF THE GLOBAL POPULATION IS INFECTED, 2  MILLION DIE EACH YEAR

Approximately one third of the world’s population is currently infected with the tuberculosis bacillus, whether the disease is symptomatic or asymptomatic. The recent reappearance of multidrug-resistant TB strains, as well as the growing number of patients living with HIV who are co-infected with tuberculosis, have led to major new public health challenges.

  • bioMérieux recently signed a memorandum of understanding with FIND (Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics), with particular focus on the development of more rapid diagnostic tests for tuberculosis.
