bioMérieux Educates and Engages Future Microbiologists at the Triangle SciTech Expo

10 April, 2015

bioMérieux is working to draw new talent into the field by creating a fun and educational exhibit at the Triangle SciTech Expo for the second year in a row.

As most are aware, antibiotic resistant “superbugs” are a growing threat to public health. Clinical microbiologists are the front line for quickly identifying these potentially deadly organisms so that patients can be treated effectively. Yet, there is currently a shortage of qualified microbiologists coming into the industry.

By fostering an interest in the life sciences, the company aims to help protect the future by educating the microbiology experts of tomorrow. Features of the exhibit included: Games, such as “So You Think You’re a Microbiologist;” Guess the Microbe! – By examining streaked plates; Photobooth with lab props; and a Virtual Microscope.
