Improving Therapeutic Decisions
ETEST PIPERACILLIN/TAZOBACTAM is a redesigned ETEST strip used to determine antibiotic susceptibility with on-scale Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) for piperacillin/tazobactam, an important antibiotic used to treat serious infections.
- Calibrated against the reference broth microdilution (BMD)
- Precise MIC to reliably determine susceptibility
ETEST consists of a predefined gradient of antibiotic concentrations immobilized on a plastic strip and is used to determine the MIC of antibiotics and antifungal agents. ETEST complements the VITEK® 2 automated system platform Learn more about ETEST.
Now FDA 510(k) Cleared!
(P/T 0.016/4 - 256/4 µg/mL)
ETEST Piperacillin/tazobactam is a quantitative technique for determining the susceptibility of Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Actinetobacter baumanii. Piperacillin/tazobactam, brand name Zosyn™, is the combination of piperacillin (an ureidopenicillin), with broad spectrum anti-bacterial activity, and tazobactam (a β-lactamase-inhibitor) which expands the antimicrobial spectrum. ETEST piperacillin/tazobactam provides an additional treatment solution for multi-drug resistant Gram-negative organisms and helps clinicians guide and manage therapy.
ETEST Piperacillin/tazobactam is FDA 510(k) cleared and is used to assess susceptibility to piperacillin/tazobactam, an antimicrobial agent developed to treat moderate to severe infections caused by piperacillin-resistant, piperacillin/tazobactam susceptible, and some strains of β-lactamase producing microorganisms.1
ETEST: Developed For New Resistance Challenges
Antimicrobial resistance challenges make appropriate use of antimicrobials critical. ETEST Piperacillin/tazobactam is one of several redesigned ETEST strips–part of an ongoing commitment to keep up-to-date with evolving microbiology needs. Other recent additions to the ETEST product line include ETEST Meropenem/vaborbactam and ETEST Telavancin.

ETEST - MIC Testing
ETEST complements the VITEK 2 system by offering a flexible and precise MIC platform to test additional antibiotics. The ETEST range offers more than 90 antimicrobial agents including antifungals as well as antimicrobial resistant detection references.
ETEST Piperacillin/tazobactam gradient strip is preformed and stable. It is a thin, inert and non-porous plastic strip comprised of a predefined antibiotic gradient used to determine the MIC, in μg/mL, against microorganisms tested on agar media after overnight incubation. In 16-20 hours of incubation, you can determine MIC values for the organism. This strip supplements our ETEST product range.
